While it is difficult to pinpoint the cause of depression, a combination factors most likely contribute, including: genetics, family history, personality, environment, and social factors.
TREATMENT OF DEPRESSION
While hopelessness is a part of depression, there are treatments that bring hope for recovery. With mild depressive symptoms, a combination of self-care, lifestyle changes, and psychotherapy can be an effective treatment.
For moderate to severe depression, medication including anti-depressant medication along with psychotherapy can be effective. Philadelphia Wellness can provide effective psychotherapy for depression including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. As a part of treatment, referrals to Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners will be given to assess whether medication is appropriate.
